This metod has been tested with Woocommerce 1.5.x and below.

In order to add, edit or disable Checkoutfields, or make them optional to fill out you just need to make simple edit.

1. Go to your FTP Server and go to the Woocommerce Pluginpath than open the classes folder:

/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/classes

2. Open the the file called:

class-wc-countries.php

3. Look for the field that you would like to disable or not make it required anymore.

For example don’t make the Phone field required.

Look for the following code and change ‘required’ => true, to ‘required’ => false,
